What is a scenic route from St Louis to central Pennsylvania?

I’m driving cross country for the first time next week, from San Francisco to Pennsylvania. I have my route figured out already from San Francisco to St Louis: I’m taking US Hwy 50 (The “Lincoln Highway”). My goal is to AVOID FREEWAYS as much as possible, and take more scenic, 2-lane roads through small towns and countryside.
I’m really unfamiliar with the midwest territory between Missouri and Pennsylvania and it looks like there are several different ways I could go: through Illionis, Indiana, and Ohio. Or through Illionis, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
I have 2-3 days to do this segment.
Can someone who is familiar with these states please recommend for me a nice, scenic route that takes into account what I said above. Thanks!

The interstates to i79 to save time the more direct route but much less scenic interstates to i80 perhaps you didnt specify where in pennsylvania you can find lane highways on your maps that parallel these i70 is more direct route but use.
